My name is Jamie, otherwise known as Jamie B online. I am a freelance
writer who has just recently seen her writing career pick up after taking time away from writing to deal with personal stuff.
Now, I am fully focused and am excited to be back in the saddle so to speak.
I first began to write regularly in High School when I decided on a whim to take
a Journalism class. It was one of the most enjoyable classes I ever took. I couldn't get enough of the whole process: interviewing,
researching, putting it all together. Natrually, the next year I signed up for the yearbook and continued to work on the publication
until my graduation.
One of the biggest moments for me in my writing career came in my Senior Year when
I was given the chance to intern at The Miami Herald. Talk about a dream job! While I was there, I had the opportunity to
get deeper into the Journalism world and not only came away with a greater love for it, but a few bylines too! Of course,
first I had to do all the usual intern stuff: filing, photcopying, transcribing phone messages, etc.
After Graduation, I decided to keep going by majoring in Journalism in College. While
in school, I became Editor of two of the publications and was a staff member of the third. One of the highlights of writing
for the College's Newspaper was getting to interview a couple of my favorite actors via conference call. David Boreanez and
Katherine Heigl were promoting a movie at the time and the studio set up a conference call to push it to College students.
After that, I took several years away from school and writing to help care for an
ill family and did some work for AVON on the side. When the family member passed and customers became a major problem, I realized
it was time for a change and decided to write again. Since then, I have done articles for various websites and even sold a
few. I also edited a book for one of my boyfriend's co-workers that will be out pretty soon.
Writing is high on the list, but it is not the only thing I love. I also enjoy watching
kids, reading, singing, meditation, researching and other stuff. I have several articles linked here related to my interests.
